Office Information

Regional Director

Welcome to Region 1 of the National Labor Relations Board. We conduct elections, investigate charges of unfair labor practices, and protect the rights of workers to act together, serving most of New England from our offices in Boston and Hartford. If you have questions or wish to file a charge or petition for election, please visit our office or call and ask for the Information Officer on duty. We can arrange to have someone speak with you in the language of your choice. We are also happy to provide speakers and materials to promote a greater understanding of the National Labor Relations Act.

News From the Region

A lengthy labor dispute between the Westin Providence Hotel and the union that represents its workers has been resolved by a contract agreement between the parties, averting a trial before an NLRB Administrative Law Judge.

The contract, which gradually restores wages and benefits to levels they were at before the dispute, was overwhelmingly ratified by members of UNITE-HERE Local 217 on February 15. As a result, union officials yesterday withdrew all NLRB charges.

A settlement has been reached in a case involving the discharge of a Connecticut ambulance service employee for posting negative comments about a supervisor on her Facebook page.
