Regional Director

Welcome to Region 12 of the National Labor Relations Board. We conduct elections, investigate charges, and protect the rights of workers to act together, serving the state of Florida, southern Georgia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands from our main office in Tampa, subregional office in San Juan, and resident offices in Jacksonville and Miami. If you have questions or wish to file a charge or petition for an election, please visit one of our offices or call and ask for the Information Officer on duty. We can arrange to have someone speak with you in the language of your choice. We are also happy to provide speakers and materials to promote a greater understanding of the National Labor Relations Act.

Bienvenidos a la Región 12 de la Junta Nacional de Relaciones del Trabajo. Celebramos elecciones, investigamos cargos de prácticas ilícitas y protegemos los derechos de los trabajadores de actuar en común acuerdo para organizarse. Desde nuestra oficina principal en Tampa, nuestra oficina subregional de San Juan, y nuestras oficinas residenciales (“Resident Offices”) en Jacksonville y Miami servimos al estado de Florida, el sur del estado de Georgia, Puerto Rico, y las Islas Vírgenes. De tener cualquier pregunta o si desea radicar un cargo de prácticas ilícitas del trabajo o una petición para celebrar elecciones entre los trabajadores, favor de visitar o llamar a una de nuestras oficinas y solicitar hablar con el Oficial de Información del Día (“Information Officer”). Haremos todo lo posible para que alguien hable con usted en el lenguaje de su preferencia. También, nos complace proveer recursos y/o materiales disponibles que promoverá un mejor entendimiento de la Ley Nacional de Relaciones del Trabajo.

News From the Region

Following the Board’s authorization, Regional Director Margaret Diaz ratified all of her actions from the date of her initial appointment to July 18, 2014. These ratifications include all personnel and administrative decisions, all actions in representation case matters, and all actions in unfair labor practice cases. Her signed ratification document is available here.

 

National Labor Relations Board General Counsel Richard F. Griffin, Jr. announced that he is considering a proposal to close the Agency’s office in Jacksonville, Florida.  The Jacksonville office handles cases in Northern Florida and Southern Georgia, and is part of Region 12, which also has offices in Tampa, Miami and San Juan, Puerto Rico. 

     On April 9, 2014, the Florida Bar Labor & Employment Law Section invites you to:  The National Labor Relations Board - The Florida Footprint.  Guest presenters will be Margaret Diaz, Regional Director, Region 12 and Pamela Scott, Miami Resident Officer.

     The event will take place at Stearns Weaver Miller Weissler Alhadeff & Sitterson, P.A., located at 150 West Flagler Street, Suite 2200 - Museum Tower, Miami, FL, starting at 5:00 p.m.

     The Dade County Bar Association Labor & Employment Committee announces Recent Developments at the NLRB - Effects on Union and Non-Union Employers and Employees on Thursday, March 27, 2014 at the Banker's Club, One Biscayne Tower, 2 South Biscayne Blvd., 14th Floor, Miami, Florida.

     The Moderator will be Kevin E. Vance from Duane Morris, LLP.  The Speakers will be Marinelly Maldonado, from the NLRB's Region 12 Miami Resident Office, Noah Warman, from Sugarman & Susskind; and William Radford, from Ogletree Deakins.

On March 4, 2014, Regional Director Margaret J. Diaz will be attending a luncheon hosted by The Association of Labor Relations Practitioners at Antonio's Restaurant in San Juan, Puerto Rico.  Regional Director Diaz will discuss the consolidation of former Region 24 into Region 12, her priorities as Regional Director, and new developments.
