Public Comments Invited on Proposal to Close Des Moines NLRB Office

WASHINGTON, DC--National Labor Relations Board General Counsel Richard F. Griffin, Jr. announced that he is considering a proposal to close the Agency’s resident office in Des Moines, Iowa. The Office of the General Counsel is inviting public comment on the proposal to realign Agency resources.

The Des Moines office handles cases in most of the state of Iowa, and is part of Region 18, which also has offices in Minneapolis, Minnesota and Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The realignment would be executed without employee job loss or a break in coverage as Agency employees in Region 18 would continue to offer effective and efficient casehandling service to those in Iowa.   This proposal is being considered in connection with the Agency’s ongoing efforts to reduce costs by decreasing office space and by taking advantage of new technologies and workplace innovations, which enable employees to work remotely.

The General Counsel is interested in receiving comments regarding the proposed closure and intends to consider input from stakeholders before making a final decision about whether to present a formal proposal to the Board.
