Charles L. Posner named Assistant General Counsel in NLRB

National Labor Relations Board Acting General Counsel Lafe Solomon announced the appointment of career attorney Charles L. Posner as Assistant General Counsel in the Division of Operations-Management of the Office of the General Counsel in Washington. In his new position, Mr. Posner will assist the Acting General Counsel in managing the 32 Regional Offices of the NLRB and providing programmatic support for the national enforcement and administration of the National Labor Relations Act. Prior to his promotion, Mr. Posner served as a Deputy Assistant General Counsel in the Division of Operations-Management. Mr. Posner joined the NLRB in 1977 as a staff counsel to Chairman John Fanning. He served in that capacity until 1981, when he transferred to the Regional Office in San Francisco (Region 20) as a Field Attorney. The following year he transferred to the Washington Resident Office in Washington, D.C., which is under the supervision of the Baltimore Regional Office (Region 5). In 1989, Mr. Posner received a promotion to the position of Supervisory Attorney in Region 5. In 1997, he was promoted to the position of Deputy Assistant General Counsel in the Division of Operations-Management. A native of Washington, D.C., Mr. Posner received a B.A. degree in Political Science in 1971 from the University of California, Berkeley. In 1976 he earned a J.D. degree from Loyola University School of Law in Los Angeles. He is admitted to the Bar in California and the District of Columbia. The National Labor Relations Board is an independent federal agency vested with the power to safeguard employee rights to organize and to determine whether to have unions as their bargaining representative. The agency also acts to prevent and remedy unfair labor practices committed by private sector employers and unions.
