Claude Harrell named Regional Director in Atlanta

NLRB Chairman Mark Gaston Pearce and Acting General Counsel Lafe E. Solomon today announced the appointment of Claude T. Harrell, Jr. as Regional Director in the Atlanta Regional Office (Region 10) with a satellite office in Birmingham, Alabama.
Mr. Harrell will be responsible for the enforcement of the nation’s primary labor law covering private sector employees in northern Georgia, northern Alabama, and eastern Tennessee.
Mr. Harrell received his undergraduate degree from the University of Arizona in 1976. He began his career with the Agency in 1976 in the Agency’s Cincinnati office (Region 9) as a field examiner. In 1992 Mr. Harrell was promoted to Supervisory Field Examiner in Cincinnati where he served until 2003, when he was promoted to the Assistant to the Regional Director position in the Atlanta office (Region 10). In 2010 he was appointed to be the Regional Director in the St. Louis office (Region 14). He has been a member of the Senior Executive Service since his 2010 promotion to Regional Director. He will replace Regional Director Martin Arlook who retired last year.
The National Labor Relations Board is an independent federal agency vested with the power to safeguard employees’ rights to organize and to determine whether to have unions as their bargaining representative. The Agency also acts to prevent and remedy unfair labor practices committed by private sector employers and unions.
