Washington, D.C.—National Labor Relations Board General Counsel Richard F. Griffin, Jr. announced that Dale Yashiki has been appointed Officer-in-Charge of the NLRB’s Honolulu Subregional Office. In her new position, Yashiki will assist Joe Frankl, Regional Director of the Agency’s Region 20 Office in San Francisco, in enforcing the National Labor Relations Act throughout Hawaii and the western Pacific.
A native of Honolulu, Hawaii, Ms. Yashiki is a graduate of the University of Hawaii at Manoa, and the William S. Richardson School of Law. Prior to practicing law she worked as a counselor, providing academic, financial aid, and career counseling within the University Hawaii system and for the Kamehameha Schools, a private pre-school through twelfth grade school system which primarily serves students of Native Hawaiian ancestry.  She began her legal career as an associate with the labor law firm King Nakamura and Chun-Hoon, where she practiced for eight years before joining the NLRB’s Subregion 37 Office in 2003.
The NLRB is an independent federal agency tasked with enforcing the National Labor Relations Act, which guarantees the right of most private sector employees to organize, to engage in group efforts to improve their wages and working conditions, to determine whether to have unions as their bargaining representative, to engage in collective bargaining, and to refrain from any of these activities. It acts to prevent and remedy unfair labor practices committed by private sector employers and unions.
