Jose Garza named Special Counsel for Congressional and Intergovernmental Affairs

National Labor Relations Board Chairman Wilma Liebman today announced the appointment of Jose P. Garza as Special Counsel for Congressional and Intergovernmental Affairs, beginning on February 7.
Mr. Garza most recently served as Deputy General Counsel to the Committee on Education and Labor in the U.S. House of Representatives. Previously he worked as Assistant Federal Public Defender in the Office of the Federal Public Defender in Del Rio, Texas, and as Assistant Public Defender at Texas Rio Grande Legal Aid, Inc. He also served as a legal fellow in the chambers of U.S. District Court Judge Richard W. Roberts in the District of Columbia.
He graduated from the University of Texas, Austin, and earned his JD from Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law.
The National Labor Relations Board is an independent federal agency vested with the power to safeguard employee rights to organize and to determine whether to have unions as their bargaining representative.
