Today, the National Labor Relations Board General Counsel Jennifer Abruzzo announced the selection of Kayce R. Compton as Associate General Counsel (AGC), Division of Advice. The Division of Advice provides guidance to the Agency’s Regional Offices regarding difficult and novel issues arising in the processing of unfair labor practice charges and coordinates the initiation and litigation of injunction proceedings in federal court under Section 10(j) and (l) of the National Labor Relations Act.
Ms. Compton joined the Agency in August 2000 as an attorney in the Division of Advice. In 2015, she was promoted to supervisory attorney in the Regional Advice Branch, and in 2020 she was promoted again to Assistant General Counsel of the Regional Advice Branch. Ms. Compton graduated from State University of New York in Albany cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in German. She received her J.D. with distinction from the University of North Dakota School of Law in Grand Forks. Ms. Compton will begin serving as AGC in January 2025, upon the retirement of current AGC Richard Bock.
“Kayce brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to this new role given her prior positions at the Agency,” said General Counsel Jennifer Abruzzo. “She has proven herself to be a great leader, and I have no doubt that she will continue to serve the public with distinction.”
Established in 1935, the National Labor Relations Board is an independent federal agency that protects employees from unfair labor practices and protects the right of private sector employees to join together, with or without a union, to improve wages, benefits and working conditions. The NLRB conducts hundreds of workplace elections and investigates thousands of unfair labor practice charges each year.
