National Labor Relations Board Acting General Counsel Lafe Solomon announced the appointment of Laura T. Vazquez as Deputy Assistant General Counsel in the Injunction Litigation Branch of the Division of Advice. In her new position, Ms. Vazquez will supervise all federal appellate litigation of Section 10(j) and Section 10(l) cases across the country.  She also will supervise review of regional offices requests for Board authorization to initiate Section 10(j) proceedings and will provide advice and support to regional offices during that litigation.
A native of Puerto Rico, Ms. Vazquez received a B.A. degree in Romance Languages and Literature from Harvard University, a M.A. in Latin American Studies from Stanford University, and a J.D. degree from the University of Puerto Rico.  She began her career with the NLRB as a field attorney in the Boston regional office (Region 1) in 1994.  Two years later, she transferred to the Division of Advice as a staff attorney.  Since that time, Ms. Vazquez has worked as a senior attorney in the Injunction Litigation Branch as well as the Regional Advice Branch.  She is admitted to practice law in Massachusetts, Puerto Rico, and numerous federal courts of appeal.
The National Labor Relations Board administers and enforces the National Labor Relations Act.  It conducts secret-ballot elections to determine whether employees desire union representation and investigates and remedies unfair labor practices.
