Washington, D.C. – National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) Acting Chairman Philip A. Miscimarra and General Counsel Richard F. Griffin, Jr. announced Leonard (Pete) Perez as the new Regional Director for the Agency’s Region 14 Office in St. Louis, MO. The Region 14 Office is responsible for conducting elections, investigating unfair labor practice charges, and protecting the right of workers to act collectively to improve their wages and working conditions throughout areas of Kansas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Missouri and Illinois.
With nearly 40 years of public service at the NLRB, Mr. Perez most recently served as the Assistant to the Regional Director in Region 14. He succeeds Daniel L. Hubbel who has retired from the Agency.
Mr. Perez received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Missouri-St. Louis in 1976. He started his career with the Agency as a Field Examiner in Region 14 in 1978. In 2003, he was promoted to Deputy Officer-in-Charge for the NLRB’s Subregional Office in Peoria, IL. In 2011, he was promoted to Officer-in-Charge of that office and then to Assistant to the Regional Director of Region 14 in 2013.
The NLRB is an independent federal agency enforcing the National Labor Relations Act, which guarantees the right of most private sector employees to organize, to engage in group efforts to improve their wages and working conditions, to determine whether to have unions as their bargaining representative, to engage in collective bargaining, and to refrain from any of these activities. It acts to prevent and remedy unfair labor practices committed by private sector employers and unions.
