Mori Pam Rubin appointed Regional Director of the NLRB Los Angeles, CA Regional Office

National Labor Relations Board Chairman Mark Gaston Pearce and Acting General Counsel Lafe Solomon announced their selection of Mori Pam Rubin to serve as Regional Director of the Agency’s Region 31 office in Los Angeles, California. Ms. Rubin will be responsible for enforcement of the nation’s primary labor law covering private sector employees in the jurisdiction of Region 31, which serves portions of Los Angeles and six other counties in Southern California. She will replace Regional Director James McDermott, who retired in December 2011.

A Summa Cum Laude graduate of UCLA, Ms. Rubin earned a BA in economics with Phi Beta Kappa honors in 1977. She graduated in 1980 from the University of California Berkeley, School of Law (Boalt Hall), where she served as the Research and Reviews Editor for the Industrial Relations Law Journal (now called the Berkeley Journal of Employment and Labor Law). Ms. Rubin started her career with the Agency in October 1980 as a Field Attorney in Region 31. Since that time, she has served as a Supervisory Attorney, Deputy Regional Attorney and in September 2011 became Regional Attorney.  She has been serving as Acting Regional Director since December 2011.  The National Labor Relations Board is an independent federal agency vested with the power to safeguard employees’ rights to organize, to engage in protected concerted activity and to determine whether to have unions as their bargaining representative.  The Agency also acts to prevent and remedy unfair labor practices committed by private sector employers and unions.
