Nancy Platt Appointed Associate General Counsel of the Division of Legal Counsel

General Counsel Peter B. Robb has announced the appointment of Nancy Platt as Associate General Counsel of the Division of Legal Counsel. In this position, Ms. Platt has oversight responsibility for the NLRB’s Contempt, Compliance, and Special Litigation Branch, Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Branch, and E-Litigation Branch.

Ms. Platt joined the NLRB in 1991 as a staff attorney in the Special Litigation Branch after two years in private practice. She was promoted to supervisory attorney in 2000 and continued as a supervisory attorney in the consolidated Contempt, Compliance, and Special Litigation Branch, and as Deputy Assistant General Counsel of that Branch in 2014. In 2015, she began serving as Deputy Associate General Counsel in the Division of Legal Counsel, and as Acting Associate General Counsel in 2018. During her tenure at the Agency, she has been detailed to the Washington Resident Office of Region 5, as well as to the Solicitor’s Office.

The Contempt, Compliance, and Special Litigation Branch represents the Board and the General Counsel in all suits not statutorily-based on Sections 10(e) and (f) of the National Labor Relations Act. Further, the Branch conducts contempt litigation to obtain compliance with Board orders and works with the Regions on a wide range of matters relating to achieving effective compliance. The FOIA Branch processes FOIA requests and administrative appeals for the Agency. The E-Litigation Branch advises on litigation strategy and management of electronically stored information within the Agency, as well as information policy.

A native of Massapequa, New York, Ms. Platt graduated from Cornell University in 1986 and UCLA School of Law in 1989. She is admitted to the D.C. Bar.
