Salt Lake City, UT—Today, National Labor Relations Board General Counsel Jennifer Abruzzo announced the appointment of attorney Nathan A. Higley as the Salt Lake City Resident Agent of Region 27-Denver.
Nathan earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, where he grew up. In 2010, he graduated from the University of Toledo College of Law where he worked as a research assistant, competed in and coached moot court, and earned a public service commendation for working on behalf of victims of domestic violence. After law school, he served as a law clerk to Nevada State district court judge Michael P. Villani, where he provided research and opinion on felony criminal matters and major civil litigation. He was then hired as a civil defense associate by the national law firm of Wilson Elser Moskowitz Edelman & Dicker.
In 2012, Nathan joined the NLRB as a field attorney in the Las Vegas Resident Office of Region 28-Phoenix, where he conducted several major trials and elections, served as a hearing officer, and performed outreach to further the NLRB’s mission.
“Nathan has been an exemplary public servant and he’ll continue to provide an invaluable service to the working people of Utah as the NLRB expands its capacity in the area. I’m proud to have him join Region 27,” said Region 27 Regional Director Paula S. Sawyer.
Established in 1935, the National Labor Relations Board is an independent federal agency that protects employees from unfair labor practices and protects the right of private sector employees to join together, with or without a union, to improve wages, benefits and working conditions. The NLRB conducts hundreds of workplace elections and investigates thousands of unfair labor practice charges each year.
