Employees at a Bed, Bath & Beyond warehouse in Carteret, New Jersey voted against representation by United Food and Commercial Workers Local 888 in a two-day election conducted by the NLRB’s Newark Regional Office.
The election involving 828 workers was held in late June, but results were not immediately confirmed because of objections filed by the union. An investigation by the region found cause to hold a hearing on some of the charges, and the employer agreed to a rerun election. However, the union later withdrew its objections, and the results of the June election were reinstated.
A tally of ballots showed 506 votes cast against union representation and 266 voted in favor. Regional Director J. Michael Lightner certified the results, finding a majority of votes were cast against the union, in early September.
