The National Labor Relations Board will conduct an open meeting at its Washington DC headquarters on July 18 to receive comments about recently-proposed amendments to its pre- and post-election procedures or other suggestions for improving representation case procedures. If there is sufficient interest, the meeting will continue through July 19.
Persons interested in attending the meeting must advise NLRB staff by 4 p.m. on Friday, July 1. They may do so by sending an email to publicmeeting@nlrb.govwith the following Subject Line: “REQUEST TO ATTEND PUBLIC MEETING REGARDING RIN 3142-AA08 ”, or by writing to Mary Meyers, Administrative Assistant to the Chairman, National Labor Relations Board, 1099 14th Street, NW, Suite 11100, Washington, DC 20570. The message should include full name, organizational affiliation (if any), and names of any individuals or organizations on whose behalf the attendee is appearing. If the person wishes to make a presentation to the Board, a brief outline of that presentation should be included.
The NLRB will announce a tentative schedule for all presentations prior to the meeting. The time allotted for each presentation will depend on the number of requests received. Persons making oral presentations should be prepared to summarize their written statements, if any, at the meeting. If there are more requests for oral presentations than there are available time slots, the Board will allocate the available time slots so that a variety of viewpoints are represented, including from individuals and organizations with expertise concerning the Board’s representation case procedures as well as members of the general public. Subject to such allocations, time slots will be assigned on a first-come-first-served basis. The open meeting was announced in the Federal Register today.
The meeting will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the NLRB’s Margaret A. Browning Hearing Room, at 1099 14th Street, NW, Washington, DC. Attendees must bring a photo identification card to gain admittance to the building.
Public comments on the proposed amendments may also be submitted in writing by August 22, 2011, either electronically through www.regulations.gov, or by mail or hand-delivery to Lester Heltzer, Executive Secretary, NLRB, 1099 14th Street NW, Washington DC 20570. Reply comments to the initial comments may be filed during an additional 14 day period thereafter.
