Today, the NLRB announced the appointment of Monica Garcia as the Associate General Counsel in the NLRB’s Ethics Office and the Agency’s new Designated Agency Ethics Official (DAEO).
In her role, she will advise senior leadership on ethical issues and will manage the Ethics Office, which is responsible for providing comprehensive guidance in response to ethics questions. The office also provides a wide array of training products and resources, which interpret and explain both legal and government ethics topics and obligations.
Monica joins the NLRB from the U.S. Department of the Interior, where she most recently served as the Deputy Director and Alternate Designated Agency Ethics Official (ADAEO) in their Departmental Ethics Office. In her position as Deputy Director, she advised senior leadership on complex ethical issues and managed multiple teams working on financial disclosure, training, advice, and policy. She also previously worked at the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Georgia Legal Services, and as a civil rights litigator in the private sector.
“We are excited to welcome Monica to the Agency and to the great staff in our Ethics Office,” said General Counsel Jennifer Abruzzo. “Her expertise working in Ethics will allow the NLRB to continue its progress in advancing these vital principles and practices.”
“Building and maintaining a strong ethical culture is foundational to all that we do at the NLRB. We are confident that Monica’s deep experience will tremendously benefit our work, and we look forward to her leadership of the outstanding team in our Ethics Office,” said Chairman Lauren McFerran.
Monica received a Juris Doctorate from New York University School of Law where she was an AnBryce Scholar and a Bachelor of Science summa cum laude from the University of Florida.
