Former Associate General Counsel and Acting General Counsel Joseph DeSio passed away on September 12, 2015.
Mr. DeSio was a graduate of Fordham University (A.B.), Fordham University Law School (LL.B., 1947), and New York University Law School (LL.M., 1955).
Mr. DeSio’s long and distinguished career with the NLRB began when he joined the Kansas City Regional Office as a field attorney in 1955. He went on to hold a variety of positions with the Board, including serving in the Division of Law, in the Appeals Branch, as Deputy Associate General Counsel in the Division of Operations-Management, and as Assistant General Counsel of the Time and Performance Branch. Mr. DeSio last served as Associate General Counsel in the Division of Operations- Management, a position he first held in 1972. During his career with the agency, Mr. DeSio was designated Acting General Counsel by President George H. W. Bush on April 4, 1989, a position he held until Mr. Jerry Hunter was appointed in November of 1989.
Mr. DeSio is survived by his second wife, Eleanor J. DeSio; his children and their spouses Loretta (Ray), Barbara, Joseph (Kori), and Frederick; his grandchildren Dell, Erin, and Tanner; and his brother, Robert.
