With great sorrow, we acknowledge the passing of our former colleague, William (Bill) Emanuel.

Bill was appointed by President Trump to the National Labor Relations Board in 2017 after a distinguished, decades long, career in the field marked by exceptional advocacy for his clients in complex workplace matters. He served on the Board from 2017 until 2021.

“It was a privilege to work with Member Emanuel,” said Chairman Marvin Kaplan. “His knowledge and experience were invaluable to the NLRB. The entire labor law community is diminished with his passing. My heart goes out to his wife, Betsy, and their family.”

Established in 1935, the National Labor Relations Board is an independent federal agency that protects employees from unfair labor practices and protects the right of private sector employees to join together, with or without a union, to improve wages, benefits and working conditions. The NLRB conducts hundreds of workplace elections and investigates thousands of unfair labor practice charges each year.
