Ronald Hooks named Regional Director in Seattle

NLRB Chairman Mark Gaston Pearce and Acting General Counsel Lafe E. Solomon today announced the appointment of Ronald K. Hooks as Regional Director in the Seattle Regional Office (Region 19), with satellite offices in Portland, Oregon and Anchorage, Alaska.  
Mr. Hooks will be responsible for the enforcement of the nation’s primary labor law covering private sector employees in the states of Washington, Oregon, Alaska, northern Idaho, and western Montana.  
Mr. Hooks received his undergraduate degree from Lemoyne-Owen College in 1968 and his JD from Rutgers University School of Law in 1971. Mr. Hooks began his career with the Agency in 1972 in the Agency’s Memphis office (Region 26).  He served as a field attorney in the Agency’s Memphis and Fort Worth (Region 16) offices.  In 1978 he was promoted to a supervisory field attorney position in Indianapolis (Region 25).  In 1990, Mr. Hooks was appointed to a supervisory field attorney position in New Orleans (Region 15). 
In 1992 he was promoted to the Regional Attorney position in Memphis and in 2000 he was promoted to the Regional Director position in that office.  He has been a member of the Senior Executive Service since his 2000 promotion to Regional Director.  He will replace Regional Director Richard Ahearn who retired from the Agency last year.
The National Labor Relations Board is an independent federal agency vested with the power to safeguard employees’ rights to organize and to determine whether to have unions as their bargaining representative.  The Agency also acts to prevent and remedy unfair labor practices committed by private sector employers and unions.
