Washington, D.C. – National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) Chairman Philip A. Miscimarra and General Counsel Richard F. Griffin, Jr. announced Timothy L. Watson as the new Regional Director for the Agency’s Region 16 Office in Fort Worth and its Resident Offices in Houston and San Antonio. The Region 16 Office is responsible for conducting elections, investigating unfair labor practice charges, and protecting the right of workers to act collectively to improve their wages and working conditions throughout Texas, except Culbertson, El Paso, and Hudspeth Counties, which are served by Region 28, and Miller County in Arkansas.
With nearly 29 years of public service at the NLRB, Mr. Watson most recently served as the Regional Attorney in the Fort Worth (Region 16) Regional Office. He succeeds Martha Kinard who retired from the Agency on April 3, 2017. Mr. Watson received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Oklahoma in 1985 and his law degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Law in 1988. He started his career with the Agency as a Field Attorney in Region 16 in 1988. He was promoted to Deputy Regional Attorney in Region 16 in 1999, and to Regional Attorney in 2006. The NLRB is an independent federal agency enforcing the National Labor Relations Act, which guarantees the right of most private sector employees to organize, to engage in group efforts to improve their wages and working conditions, to determine whether to have unions as their bargaining representative, to engage in collective bargaining, and to refrain from any of these activities. It acts to prevent and remedy unfair labor practices committed by private sector employers and unions.
