William Baudler named NLRB Regional Director in Oakland

NLRB Chairman Wilma Liebman and Acting General Counsel Lafe Solomon have announced the appointment of William A. Baudler as Regional Director in the Oakland office (Region 32). Mr. Baudler will be responsible for the enforcement of the nation’s primary labor law covering private sector employees in northern California and the northern half of Nevada.
A native of Austin, Minnesota, Mr. Baudler received his B.A. degree from the University of Minnesota in 1975 and his J.D. degree from the University of Minnesota School of Law in 1979. He began his career with the NLRB in the Appellate Court Branch in Washington, D.C., where he worked from 1987 until 1996, at which time he transferred to Region 20 in San Francisco. There, Mr. Baudler served as both a supervisory attorney and as Deputy Regional Attorney before being appointed in 2003 as the Regional Attorney in Oakland, which position he continued to hold until being appointed Regional Director. Mr. Baudler succeeds Alan B. Reichard, who recently retired.
The National Labor Relations Board is an independent federal agency vested with the power to safeguard employees’ rights to organize and to determine whether to have unions as their bargaining representative. The agency also acts to prevent and remedy unfair labor practices committed by private sector employers and unions.
