Today, General Counsel Jennifer A. Abruzzo announced the appointment of John D. Doyle, Jr. as the Regional Director for the Agency’s Region 2 office in New York, New York. Region 2 is responsible for conducting elections, investigating unfair labor practice charges, and protecting the right of workers to act collectively to improve their wages and working conditions in Manhattan, the Bronx, as well as Orange, Putnam, Rockland and Westchester counties in New York. He succeeds John J. Walsh who recently retired from the Agency.

“John has proven throughout his career at the NLRB to be an exemplary leader and public servant,” said General Counsel Jennifer Abruzzo. “I am certain he will continue to excel in Region 2 and will undoubtedly work every day to fully effectuate the National Labor Relations Act.”

Mr. Doyle joined the NLRB in 1995 as a Law Clerk in the Atlanta office. In 1996 he converted to Field Attorney and transferred to the Agency’s Birmingham Resident Office. The Agency promoted Mr. Doyle to Deputy Regional Attorney in Region 5 (Baltimore) in 2011, to Deputy Assistant General Counsel in the Division of Operations-Management in Headquarters in 2014, to Regional Director for Region 10 (Atlanta) in 2017, and to his most recent position of Deputy Associate General Counsel in the Division of Operations-Management in 2019.

A native of Tarrytown, New York, Mr. Doyle is a graduate of Regis High School in New York City, Colgate University, and Fordham University School of Law. He is admitted to the Bar in New York.

Established in 1935, the National Labor Relations Board is an independent federal agency that protects employees, employers, and unions from unfair labor practices and protects the right of private sector employees to join together, with or without a union, to improve wages, benefits and working conditions. The NLRB conducts hundreds of workplace elections and investigates thousands of unfair labor practice charges each year. Region 2 serves areas in New York from its Regional Office in New York City.
