Today, General Counsel Jennifer A. Abruzzo announced the appointment of Matthew Turner as the Regional Director of the NLRB’s Region 10. With a Regional Office in Atlanta, a Sub-Regional Office in Winston-Salem, NC, and Resident Offices in Birmingham, AL and Nashville, TN, Region 10 is responsible for conducting elections, investigating unfair labor practice charges, litigating cases that have not settled, and obtaining compliance with settlements and Board and court orders.

“Matthew is a talented labor lawyer who has dedicated his career to protecting workers’ rights to act collectively to improve their wages and working conditions,” said General Counsel Jennifer Abruzzo. “I am confident he will bring that dedication to fully effectuate the Act in his new role as the Regional Director of Region 10.”

Mr. Turner earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy from the University of Florida and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Virginia School of Law. He worked as an intern in the Region 5-Baltimore Office and in the Division of Judges Office while in law school, then began his career as a Field Attorney in Region 5-Baltimore. He subsequently worked as an attorney in the Region 10-Atlanta office. In 2019, Mr. Turner was promoted to Supervisory Field Attorney in that same office.

Established in 1935, the National Labor Relations Board is an independent federal agency that protects employees, employers, and unions from unfair labor practices and protects the right of private sector employees to join together, with or without a union, to improve wages, benefits and working conditions. The NLRB conducts hundreds of workplace elections and investigates thousands of unfair labor practice charges each year. Region 10 serves areas in Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia from its Regional Office in Atlanta, its Subregional Office in Winston-Salem, and Resident Offices in Birmingham and Nashville.
