Established in 1935, the National Labor Relations Board is an independent federal agency that protects employees, employers, and unions from unfair labor practices and protects the right of private sector employees to join together, with or without a union, to improve wages, benefits and working conditions. The NLRB conducts hundreds of workplace elections and investigates thousands of unfair labor practice charges each year. Region 6 serves areas in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia from its Regional Office in Pittsburgh.
Region 6-Pittsburgh Obtains Settlement of More than $198,000 for Unlawfully Withheld Wage Increases and Terminations of Workers
On July 5, 2024, the Regional Director of the NLRB’s Region 6-Pittsburgh office obtained a settlement agreement involving four unfair labor practice charges filed by the United Steelworkers International Union against Hello Neighbor, a Pittsburgh nonprofit.
Region 6-Pittsburgh Secures Interim Settlement Agreement Requiring Starbucks to Reinstate Fired Workers and Cease and Desist from Further Firings at Two Pittsburgh Stores
On Thursday, July 13, 2023, the Regional Director of Region 6-Pittsburgh approved an interim settlement agreement with Starbucks providing interim remedies based on multiple unfair labor practice allegations.
Among the remedies obtained in the settlement, Starbucks has agreed to take the following steps:
Renee McKinney Named Regional Attorney in Region 6-Pittsburgh
Today, National Labor Relations Board General Counsel Jennifer A. Abruzzo announced the appointment of Renee McKinney as the Regional Attorney of the NLRB Region 6-Pittsburgh. In her new position, Ms. McKinney will assist Regional Director Nancy Wilson in the administration and enforcement of the National Labor Relations Act in parts of Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia.
