Established in 1935, the National Labor Relations Board is an independent federal agency that protects employees, employers, and unions from unfair labor practices and protects the right of private sector employees to join together, with or without a union, to improve wages, benefits and working conditions. The NLRB conducts hundreds of workplace elections and investigates thousands of unfair labor practice charges each year. Region 25 serves areas in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, and Kentucky from its Regional Office in Indianapolis and its Subregional Office in Peoria.

Comprehensive Settlement Valued Over $1 Million
In February of 2014, Region 25 approved a comprehensive non-Board settlement in American Red Cross, 33-CA-016204 et al. A consolidated complaint alleged and an administrative law judge (ALJ) issued recommended findings to the Board that this Peoria, IL employer engaged in numerous unfair labor practices (ULPs) by failing to bargain with employees’ union representative, AFSCME Local 31. Nathaniel E. Strickler named Officer-in-Charge of the NLRB's Peoria office
National Labor Relations Board Chairman Mark Gaston Pearce and General Counsel Richard F. Griffin, Jr. have announced the appointment of Nathaniel E. Strickler as Officer-in-Charge of the Agency's Subregional office in Peoria, Illinois (Subregion 33). In his new position, Mr. Strickler will assist Rik Lineback, Regional Director of the NLRB’s Indianapolis, IN office (Region 25), in enforcing the National Labor Relations Act in Indiana, and parts of Kentucky, northern Illinois and Iowa along the Mississippi River.

Patricia K. Nachand
Patricia Nachand was named Regional Director for the Region 25 Office in Indianapolis in March 2016. A native of the Indianapolis, Indiana area, Ms. Nachand received her B.S. and M.B.A. degrees from the University of Indianapolis in 1983 and 1997, respectively. She began her Field Examiner career in the Indianapolis office in 1981 after first working for the Agency as a receptionist, stenographer, and labor-management relations aide while attending college at night.
Regional News: Concrete supplier Spurlino Materials ordered to rehire employees in Indianapolis
An Indianapolis concrete supplier found to have violated labor laws in the past has been ordered by a federal court to reinstate 11 employees who were replaced after they staged a week-long strike.
Under the consent agreement and injunction order sought by the NLRB and approved April 26 by Judge William T. Lawrence of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana, the company must rehire the employees, withdraw letters saying they had been permanently replaced, and prominently post a copy of the order at the workplace.
