Established in 1935, the National Labor Relations Board is an independent federal agency that protects employees, employers, and unions from unfair labor practices and protects the right of private sector employees to join together, with or without a union, to improve wages, benefits and working conditions. The NLRB conducts hundreds of workplace elections and investigates thousands of unfair labor practice charges each year. Region 25 serves areas in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, and Kentucky from its Regional Office in Indianapolis and its Subregional Office in Peoria.
Patricia K. Nachand Named Regional Director for Indianapolis
Washington, D.C.—National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) Chairman Mark Gaston Pearce and General Counsel Richard F. Griffin, Jr. have named Patricia K. Nachand the new Regional Director for the Agency’s Region 25 Office in Indianapolis. In her new position, Ms. Nachand will be responsible for enforcement of one of the nation’s primary labor laws covering private sector employees in Indiana and parts of Illinois, Iowa, and Kentucky.
Labor Rights Information Forum
As part of Labor Rights Week events, representatives from NLRB Region 25 will be making a presentation and fielding questions at a forum being hosted by the US Department of Labor on September 3, 2015. The event will take place in the 7th floor BMO Conference Center located at 135 N. Pennsylvania Street, Indianapolis, Indiana, 46204. Attendance is FREE and OPEN TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC.
Settlement of Organizing Discharge Case
In early May 2015, Region 25 approved an informal Board settlement in Green Organics, 25 CA-143923. The case involved allegedly unlawful conduct by the employer, including the layoff/discharge of a leading union supporter, during a union’s organizing campaign in the fall of 2014. The Region conducted an election in December 2014 which resulted in a 2-2 tie with the alleged discriminatee’s challenged ballot being determinative. Investigation into the employer’s conduct resulted in determination to issue complaint.

Joanne Mages Named Regional Attorney for NLRB's Indianapolis Office
National Labor Relations Board General Counsel Richard F. Griffin, Jr. announced the appointment of Joanne Mages as the Regional Attorney of the NLRB's Regional Office in Indianapolis, Indiana (Region 25).
New Election Rules Presentation
The NLRB has published new rules concerning the processing of representation petitions filed on or after April 14, 2015.
