About NLRB

Amita Tracy

Judge Tracy was appointed in September of 2014. She was a judge with the Social Security Administration for 3 years, most recently as the hearing office chief judge in San Rafael, California. Before her appointment as a judge, she spent 6 years litigating and handling employment law matters and presenting cases in Federal courts as an attorney and supervisory attorney for the General Counsel of the Social Security Administration. Earlier, she spent 4 years as an attorney litigating unfair labor practice and related cases with the Federal Labor Relations Authority.

Charles Muhl

Judge Muhl was appointed in September of 2014. Previously, he served as an administrative law judge for the Social Security Administration in 2013-14.  Before that, he spent more than 11 years as a trial attorney with the Board’s Chicago regional office, where he handled some of the region’s more significant cases.  He also was employed in the private practice of law in Chicago and as an economist with the U.S. Department of Labor in Washington, DC.  Judge Muhl received his B.A. degree from Washington University in St. Louis (1991) and his J.D.

Keltner W. Locke

 

Judge Locke was appointed in January of 1997. He previously served for 11 years as a field attorney, trial specialist, and supervisory attorney in the Board's St. Louis Regional Office.  He also spent 3 years as a senior associate with the law firm of King & Ballow, representing employers in labor relations matters.  He received his B.J. degree from the University of Missouri School of Journalism, his J.D. from Wayne State University, and his L.L.M. from George Washington University. He was an SSA judge for 5 years before transferring to the NLRB. 

Ira Sandron

Judge Sandron was appointed in September of 2002. He previously served as both an  SSA judge in Evansville, Indiana (2001 – 2002) and an Immigration Judge in Miami, Florida (1990–2001).  Before that he was a senior trial attorney for the Immigration and Naturalization Service in Arlington, Virginia (1989–1990) and for the FLRA in Washington, D.C. (1984–1988).

Mindy E. Landow

Judge Landow has served as a NLRB Judge since September 2005. Previously, she served as an Administrative Law Judge for the Social Security Administration. She is a graduate of the New York University School of Law.

Lauren Esposito

Judge Esposito was appointed in January 2011.  She had previously worked for 9 years as an NLRB field attorney in Region 2 (New York, New York).  Prior to her work at Region 2, she spent 7 years in private practice representing labor unions, benefit funds, and employees in cases before the NLRB and labor arbitration, and in litigation involving employment discrimination, pension and welfare benefit funds issues, and union democracy matters arising under the Labor-Management Reporting and Disclosure Act.  She received a B.A. degree from Swarthmore College and a J.D.

Kenneth W. Chu

Judge Chu was appointed in July of 2012. He previously served as the Chief Administrative Judge with the EEOC for over 25 years, including a detail as the acting EEOC New York District Deputy Director.  While at the EEOC, he was instrumental in drafting regulatory revisions to the federal sector complaints adjudication process. After almost 30 years with the EEOC, he was selected to an ALJ position with the SSA.

Jeffrey D. Wedekind

Judge Wedekind was appointed in February of 2010. He previously worked for 20 years at the NLRB headquarters in Washington, D.C. He began as a staff attorney for Chairman Dotson and subsequently served in various senior executive positions, including Deputy Chief Counsel to then-Member Liebman, Chief Counsel to Chairman Truesdale, and Solicitor.  Before joining the NLRB, he represented employees in litigation against employers and unions as a staff attorney with the National Right to Work Legal Defense Foundation.  He received a B.A.

Lisa D. Ross

Judge Ross was appointed in November of 2013. She previously served as both an Administrative Law Judge with the Social Security Administration (2010–2013) and as an Administrative Judge with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (2001–2010).  Before that she worked for several years as an attorney in private practice, specializing in employment law.  She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Kansas and her JD degree from St. Louis University School of Law.
