Established in 1935, the National Labor Relations Board is an independent federal agency that protects employees, employers, and unions from unfair labor practices and protects the right of private sector employees to join together, with or without a union, to improve wages, benefits and working conditions. Brian Gee Named Regional Attorney in NLRB Region 31 Los Angeles

National Labor Relations Board Acting General Counsel Lafe Solomon has selected career employee Brian Gee as Regional Attorney of the Agency’s office (Region 31) in Los Angeles, California.  Mr. Gee will assist Regional Director Mori Pam Rubin in the processing of representation and unfair labor practice cases filed under the National Labor Relations Act in portions of Los Angeles county and six other counties in southern California. 

Federal Judge orders Los Angeles recycling firm to stop threatening union supporters and offer reinstatement to fired employees

A federal judge has ordered American Reclamation, Inc., a Los Angeles trash hauling and recycling service, to stop violating federal labor laws by threatening employees with dismissal for supporting a union, among other things, and to offer interim reinstatement to three employees who were fired.

Mori Pam Rubin appointed Regional Director of the NLRB Los Angeles, CA Regional Office

National Labor Relations Board Chairman Mark Gaston Pearce and Acting General Counsel Lafe Solomon announced their selection of Mori Pam Rubin to serve as Regional Director of the Agency’s Region 31 office in Los Angeles, California. Ms. Rubin will be responsible for enforcement of the nation’s primary labor law covering private sector employees in the jurisdiction of Region 31, which serves portions of Los Angeles and six other counties in Southern California. She will replace Regional Director James McDermott, who retired in December 2011.

National Labor Relations Board finds Santa Barbara newspaper committed multiple unfair labor practices

The National Labor Relations Board has unanimously found that the publisher of the Santa Barbara News-Press committed multiple unfair labor practices during a union organizing campaign by newsroom employees, and ordered Ampersand Publishing LLC to offer reinstatement to eight fired journalists, among other remedies.
